Why I support Marshall:
Your contribution through this website will be put towards the principal balance of "The Lincoln County Friends of Marshall Scholarship" endowment. The scholarship will be awarded at a future date when enough funds are available to make a sizable award to a student based on the interest proceeds of the principal balance, so increasing the principal balance for this scholarship is very important. The club has set a goal to raise an additional $10,000 for the principal balance of the scholarship endowment.
The purpose, mission, and goals of the Lincoln County Friends of Marshall Club include promoting and enhancing Marshall University’s image in Lincoln County, academic student recruitment and assistance programs through the Marshall University Foundation, athletic support through the Big Green Scholarship Foundation, as well as providing an enjoyable opportunity for all Marshall University supporters to come together for social and intellectual enrichment. The Lincoln County Friends of Marshall Club is an alumni club of the Marshall University Alumni Association. The Lincoln County Friends of Marshall Club is a regional chapter of the Big Green Scholarship Foundation.
My favorite Marshall Memory:
Marshall football coach Bobby Pruett speaking at a memorial service for the plane crash victims on 11/14/00: "This is not a sad day. This is a wonderful day. This is a glorious day. We have told our story to the nation. The tragedy is the driving force behind this football team. To go from the depths of the ashes of a plane crash to become the winningest football program in all America is truly, truly a Hollywood dream and a miracle come true.''
